On Wednesday, April 26, some junior staff members of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) were seen wearing red and black clothing in mourning for a colleague who passed away after collapsing during an altercation with the Director of Administration. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, March 7, and the IT officer was later diagnosed with a stroke, passing away three days later. The deceased is scheduled to be buried on Saturday, April 29.
The workers at GSA are calling for an investigation into the death of their colleague, expressing their frustration by drumming and dancing on the premises to bring attention to the matter. Despite having written to management, they claim to have received no response other than a durbar addressed by the Chief Executive Officer, which they view as insufficient.

In an interview with Media General’s Richard Bright Addo, the Deputy General Secretary of the Public Service Workers Union, John Sampan, spoke on behalf of the workers, stating that “They feel that whatever happened, management has just made it a foolish case and that they are not addressing to know the root cause.” The workers are seeking answers and hoping that management will take their concerns seriously.
