King Promise, a musician, asserts that despite receiving suggestions to skip the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) ceremony after being nominated for multiple accolades, he chose to remain a part of the event. In an interview with TV3, he expressed his refusal to withdraw from the scheme as a sign of respect for his supporters and music enthusiasts. King Promise emphasized that he would continue to entertain his fans, undeterred by the loss of a few awards.
“Even with the VGMAs there were times where I had advice from people who were like ‘cancel it, don’t go again’. People say a lot of stuff, it’s up to you to make what you think of it.”

King Promise stated that he knew it was not the fault of his fans he was not winning awards because “when I drop the music it goes crazy, so, I know the fans do support me.”
He said that “I always went still and performed, even when I didn’t win, I go the next year to perform, It’s about the fans for me.”
Due to his resilience and dedication to his fans, he ultimately secured two awards at the recently concluded 2023 VGMA. Notably, King Promise achieved a significant triumph in the industry by winning the Best Afropop/Afrobeat Artiste of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) following previous disappointments.
