The song immediately establishes its setting through two trucks travelling the same roads, with the singer and an old friend sharing their working days before heading to the local bar after their shifts. Those details give the story a lived-in quality, making the friendship feel like something built through years of ordinary routines.
The turning point arrives when the narrator admits he is tired of coming home drunk every night. The line “I knew it wasn’t the truck, it had to be me” is particularly effective because it shifts responsibility inward. The problem is no longer something outside his control; change has to begin with him.
This is a nice track. The instrumentation matches well with the vocals, allowing the storytelling to remain clear while keeping the song moving. I especially like the little guitar moments, which add character without taking attention away from the lyrics.
