Instagram has announced that it is introducing a new feature allowing users to comment on posts or Reels using GIFs. The Meta-owned platform previously allowed users to comment using text and emoji, but now they will be able to express themselves with animated images globally. The GIF responses feature was initially released to select users in certain regions, but it is now being made available to users worldwide. However, the rollout in India will be gradual.
To utilize GIFs in comments, users need to open the comment section of a post and tap on the GIF button located on the right side of the text box. The GIF library, powered by Giphy, enables users to search for relevant GIFs and share them in the comments. This new feature has been implemented globally and will be progressively rolled out to all users. Instagram has been introducing several updates recently, including the option to add up to five links on a user’s profile bio. This addition aims to assist creators in showcasing more of their work and expand their online presence.
