John Dumelo, a former actor who has ventured into farming, has announced his intention to include cannabis in his agricultural endeavors, expanding his crop portfolio.

Previously engaged in the cultivation of ginger, tubers, grains, and poultry farming, Mr. Dumelo believes that growing cannabis offers promising prospects.

His decision comes in light of the recent passing of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) Bill, 2023 in parliament on July 12. This legislation grants the Interior Ministry the authority to issue licenses for the cultivation of cannabis, as long as it contains no more than 0.3% THC (utility content) by dry weight, specifically for industrial or medicinal purposes.

Expressing his enthusiasm for this development, Mr. Dumelo stated that he is thrilled to witness this significant moment in Ghana’s history.
