Once again, Afia Schwarzenegger, who claims to be the Queen of comedy, has made a controversial statement regarding a supposed method to prompt the government into repairing roads in various parts of the country.
According to the comedian, the only way the government pays attention to urgent infrastructure needs, particularly deteriorating roads, in a constituency if the member of parliament representing that area passes away. She suggests that this unfortunate event is what triggers the government to address the pressing issues.
Her comments stem from concerns that ongoing road improvements in the Kumawu constituency are strategically timed to garner votes for the political party in order to retain the seat following the passing of the local MP.

Initially, when these concerns surfaced, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the minister of roads and highways, stated that the timing of the road construction in the constituency was purely coincidental. He explained that the government had already awarded the road contract before the untimely demise of Philip Basoa, the former member of parliament for the constituency.
Afia Schwarzenegger’s statement implies that the quickest way to ensure road repairs in a particular constituency is to hope for the unfortunate passing of the sitting MP. She suggests that praying for divine intervention, similar to what happened to her own father, is the only way to prompt both political parties to allocate funds for infrastructure development in constituencies.

“That’s not all, you will be gifted with items like cloth, rice, and so on. God, I commit the MPs in both my hometown, Adansi Modema, and my area, Spintex, into my hands. Kindly do the needful. The roads in these areas are bad so pls do what you have to do,” she stated.
