The individual responsible for overseeing the contentious Saglemi Affordable Housing Project, Andrew Clocanas, has reportedly passed away in his Airport Residential apartment. According to reports, his lifeless body was discovered in the bathroom beneath a shower on October 21, a Saturday, and has since been taken to the Lashibi Funeral Home.
In the meantime, the Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into his death and has visited his apartment to question certain individuals.

Clocanas, along with others, is currently on trial for their alleged involvement in causing a financial loss to the state. The other accused individuals include Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, a former Minister of Water Resources, Works, and Housing; Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, the Executive Chairman of Construtora OAS Ghana Limited (the 4th Accused); and Nouvi Tetteh Angelo, the Chief Executive Officer and owner of Ridge Management Solutions Ghana Limited (the 5th Accused).
They are facing 70 charges related to the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project, with allegations that they deliberately caused a financial loss to the state of over $200 million, which had been approved for the project. All of them have pleaded not guilty and have been granted bail.

Earlier, the prosecution had informed the court that they intended to call five witnesses to testify in the case. The combination of these witnesses’ evidence-in-chief and cross-examination by the defense was estimated to require approximately 1,952 hours.
