THROES NYC’s The Wires Out is a compact two-track EP that knows exactly how to create an atmosphere. Released August 12, 2026, the project blends dark alt-pop, trip-hop and electronic textures with a more melodic pop edge, resulting in a sound that feels suited to empty streets, dim rooms and those hours when everything seems a little more intense. The EP draws from the musical character of New York City’s 1990s and 2000s scene, but it doesn’t simply look backward. Instead, THROES NYC takes those influences and filters them through modern electronic production and emotionally charged songwriting.

1. Always, Baby: opens the EP with a song about loyalty, choice and staying connected even when circumstances become complicated. The repeated declaration of wanting someone “always” gives the track its emotional centre, while the later instrumental passage gradually becomes more atmospheric. The transition creates a cool late-night feeling, allowing the song to drift from direct pop songwriting into something more immersive. The track’s strength comes from the tension between its relatively straightforward message and the increasingly spacious production. It feels romantic without becoming overly polished or predictable.

2. Something Chemical: featuring Courtney Leo and Michael Bozzo, takes the EP into darker territory. The song describes a relationship so intense that it feels almost biological, something impossible to rationalise or simply switch off. The recurring idea of a powerful “chemical” connection gives the track a strong hook, while references to being rearranged by another person suggest the destabilising side of attraction.

Despite being only two tracks, The Wires Out establishes a surprisingly clear identity. THROES NYC understands the appeal of contrast: romance alongside tension, melodic songwriting alongside darker electronics, and nostalgia alongside contemporary production. “Always, Baby” represents the warmer side of the EP, while “Something Chemical” explores attraction when it becomes messy, consuming and difficult to explain. Together, they create a small but cohesive world. The Wires Out may only contain two tracks, but THROES NYC makes them count. The EP combines dark electronic textures, melodic hooks and relationship-driven storytelling to create a moody snapshot of love, tension and nostalgia through a distinctly NYC-inspired lens.
