Despite many official efforts, the ILO projected young unemployment in Ghana at 13.7 percent in 2018. This, among other things, is a powerful motivator for Shulammite Ofori-Danso, a lively young entrepreneur, to begin spending her resources in training unemployed young females in order to provide them with readily accessible vocational skills to produce money. Seated between two of her trainees who will graduate this month, Shulammite, affectionately known as ‘Lady Diamond’ by her colleagues, describes how she was inspired to establish the Diamond Institute of Events and Weddings in order to train as many young people as possible into the event management and services sector.
