In a heated custody dispute with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, Davido has decided to relinquish custody of their daughter, Imade. Davido, who had sought joint custody or unrestricted access to Imad
e through a legal motion filed on April 17, has now chosen to withdraw from the case.
“The Applicant is married to another woman, and they live together. The proper upbringing of our daughter by another cannot be guaranteed. The fact that the Applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the Applicant,” the suit noted.

In response, Davido expressed that it is unfair for Sophia to continuously bring up his son’s death and imply that he is to blame for the incident. He vented his frustrations on social media, questioning why it is an issue for him to request joint custody of his own child.
“All I asked for was ‘joint custody’ but cus it’s davido yall wanna act like yall can’t read! SMH I’m off this … yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you”.
Ultimately, Davido told Sophia that she could keep their child if it gives her the satisfaction she seeks.
