Bobrisky jailed six months for defacing Naira notes

Nigerian personality Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, received a six-month prison sentence on April 12 for defacing Naira notes.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos issued the sentence. Originally facing multiple charges including money laundering, Bobrisky admitted to defacing the currency after the money laundering charges were dropped.

Following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on April 5, he was held in EFCC detention until his sentencing, which was postponed due to Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The EFCC announced the sentencing on their platform, previously known as Twitter.
