Drama as New Force spokesperson is re-arrested for repatriation after prosecutors dropped charges

The residency permit of Shalimar Abbuissi, spokesperson for the New Force, has been invalidated by the Ghana Immigration Service, and she is scheduled for repatriation today. Abbuissi, featured in the group’s campaign video, faced charges of obtaining a student residency permit through false declaration.

Earlier today, all charges against her were dropped by the State Prosecutor. The court further ordered the release of her seized iPhone 13 Pro by the National Investigations Bureau, as no incriminating evidence was discovered upon examination.

Despite these developments, Abbuissi was rearrested outside the court by the Ghana Immigration Service. This sparked chaos between her legal representatives and the Immigration officers, who intended to take her away.

The Immigration Service contends that her continued stay in Ghana is unauthorized, leading to her impending deportation later today. The New Forces’ December 7 press release highlights Abbuissi’s recent legal battles, expressing concerns about potential abuses of power, persecution of perceived political opponents, and numerous human rights violations.
