Ghanaian artist MzVee, known for her work in afropop, dancehall, and R&B, expressed concern about the limited airplay that female musicians receive compared to their male counterparts.
During her conversation on Accra’s OKAY FM, MzVee noted that she couldn’t pinpoint the exact reasons for this discrepancy.
She emphasized the importance of female artists receiving more airplay, given their relatively smaller numbers, to ensure their continued presence and influence in the music industry.

“This thing has been discussed so many times, and some people don’t want to accept the fact that it is what it is. Talking about airplay, for example, we already do not have a lot of females in the industry; we are very few and do not get enough airplay.
Some do well to play our songs, but the male artiste dominate,” she said.
