UEFA has taken disciplinary action against Juventus and Chelsea for violating the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
As a consequence of their actions related to transactions between 2012 and 2019, Juventus has been expelled from the current season’s Europa Conference League, and both clubs have been handed fines. Juventus has been fined £17.14 million, with the condition that they will only need to pay half of the fine if they comply with financial regulations over the next three years. On the other hand, Chelsea has been fined £8.57 million, and they have already agreed to pay the settlement amount.

Chelsea’s fine is connected to a seven-year period when Roman Abramovich was in charge of the club. UEFA mentioned that Chelsea’s new ownership identified and reported potential incomplete financial reporting that occurred under the club’s previous ownership after the club was sold in May 2022. In response, Chelsea stated that they fully cooperated with UEFA’s investigations and reached a settlement agreement. The Premier League club expressed appreciation for the resolution of the case through proactive disclosure of information and addressing the reported matters.
After Juventus’ expulsion from the Europa Conference League, the responsibility now falls on the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) to inform UEFA of the replacement club. Fiorentina is likely to take their place as they finished eighth in Serie A. It is worth noting that Fiorentina, who were last year’s finalists, were defeated by West Ham in the final.
