Shatta Wale and his close collaborator Medikal have stirred up excitement on social media by announcing their plan to dedicate a day for collective prayer for the advancement of Ghana’s music industry, along with their substantial fanbases. Clearly, this is a key element of their pre-event preparations leading up to their annual Freedom Wave Festival, scheduled to take place from December 20th to 25th, 2023.
According to the event’s promotional flyer, Shatta Wale, Medikal, and their supporters will come together on December 23, 2023, at the Accra Sports Stadium to offer prayers for the music industry. Other activities lined up for the five-day festival include the gathering of regional fan bases, the exhibition of Shatta Movement merchandise, a preliminary concert featuring emerging artists, a rehearsal for the performers, and the main concert itself.
The 2022 edition of the eagerly anticipated Freedom Wave concert was a remarkable success, marked by Shatta Wale achieving an unprecedented feat by filling the entire stadium to its maximum capacity. Hosted by Shatta Wale and Medikal, the event was a grand showcase of musical talent, attracting fans from diverse backgrounds who were treated to exceptional performances.

Shatta Wale, arriving at the stadium in an extensive fleet of luxurious cars, showcased his distinctive stage presence with dazzling performances that left the thousands in attendance in awe. He continued to captivate the audience with his spectacular performances until the morning of Boxing Day, replicating his success from the first concert.
Medikal, Shatta Wale’s partner in this endeavor, also delivered an exceptional performance that left attendees amazed. The award-winning rapper had fans enthusiastically supporting him and singing along to some of his groundbreaking hits, including “La Hustle,” “Omo Ada,” “Ayekoo,” and many others.
The night also featured impressive performances by other talented artists such as Larruso, Wendy Shay, Sista Afia, Quamina MP, Kofi Jamar, Black Sherif, and Phrimpong, among others. With tickets available for as low as GHC20, the second edition of the Freedom Wave concert is destined to be remembered as one of Ghana’s most successful music events in history.
