Recently, Okoye Blessing Nwakaego received a three-year prison sentence from the Federal High Court in Lagos for cyberstalking Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus. This decision was made by Justice Nicholas Oweibo after Nwakaego pleaded guilty to two counts of cyberstalking.
Despite the guilty plea, the judge took into consideration Nwakaego’s remorse and offered her an alternative option. Instead of serving time in jail, she could pay a fine of N150,000.
The charges against Nwakaego and her accomplice, Chimabia (who is currently at large), stem from their actions between December 2022 and July 2023 in Lagos. During this period, they conspired to commit cyberstalking against Eniola Badmus.

The duo deliberately spread false and offensive information using various social media platforms, such as Tiktok, Gossipmill TV, and remedy blog, using Nwakaego’s mobile number. The purpose was to cause annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, and needless anxiety to the detriment of Eniola Badmus.
The prosecution counsel, Nosa Uhumwangho, presented the case’s details to Justice Oweibo, revealing that Nwakaego admitted to creating the defamatory video under the influence of a male friend. This friend falsely claimed to have information about Eniola Badmus and manipulated Nwakaego into making the video, which accused the actress of introducing young Nigerian girls to men.
Due to the severity of the crime and its violation of the Cybercrimes Act of 2015, Nwakaego was convicted on the specific charges of cyberstalking, leading to the sentence imposed by the court.
