According to fiery sports commentator Countryman Songo, Black Stars captain Andre Ayew was allegedly mistreated by Chris Hughton during the team’s AFCON qualifying match against Angola.
When it came time to choose a coach for the Black Stars, Songo, real name Patrick Osei Agyemang, claimed that the Ghana Football Association asked Ayew for his thoughts on the possible hiring of Chris Hughton and Kwasi Appiah as captains.
According to Songo, the coach decided to rest Ayew for the first leg of the March 23 doubleheader against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium due to Ayew’s opinion on Chris Hughton, which he reportedly shared with the Ghana Football Association’s president.

“You asked the player if he thought Kwasi Appiah was the right man for the job, and he said that Kwasi Appiah is a local coach who will do a good job with the team with the right support.” Kwasi Appiah, he said, knows the terrain and how to navigate African football.
“The president also asked him, and he vouched for him, but only if he is allowed to bring his own backroom staff.” What’s the problem with said?
He was honest about what could benefit any of the coaches. “So, what sin did he commit?” he asked on the most recent episode of his Fire for Fire show on Adom TV.
