Fred Nuamah, a well-known actor and movie producer who was vying to become a parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency, has withdrawn from the electoral race.
Nuamah communicated his personal decision to step back from the competition to the NDC’s General Secretary. He emphasized that this choice was made independently after extensive consultations with important stakeholders, and it was not influenced by any external factors.

“I am writing to formally notify the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about my decision to withdraw from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries. This decision was personal and was made after extensive consultations with key stakeholders, without any external influence,” he said in the letter dated August 7.
Nuamah, who also harbors political aspirations, stressed the importance of presenting a united front within the NDC for the upcoming 2024 general elections. He expressed his belief that the party’s unity and the success of the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in his mission to improve Ghana, take precedence.
In light of his withdrawal, Nuamah has given his enthusiastic endorsement and support to his close friend, Mr. John Dumelo, as the preferred NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency.

Nuamah urged his supporters across all tiers of the party within the constituency to rally behind Dumelo and provide him with the necessary backing. He conveyed his optimism that, united and resolute, they can secure victory in the 2024 elections and uplift Ghana from its current state.
Nuamah concluded his statement by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the numerous supporters at various levels – be it branch, ward, or constituency – for their unwavering dedication, support, and affection. He cherished their interactions and admired the grassroots enthusiasm in their shared pursuit of returning political power to the NDC and former President John Mahama, with the goal of bettering the lives of the Ghanaian people.

It’s worth noting that John Dumelo, a popular actor and TV personality, contested in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency during the previous general elections. Although the NDC has conducted its parliamentary primaries nationwide, a few constituencies, including Ayawaso West-Wuogon, had their primaries put on hold.
