Nigerian artist Iyanya has provided an explanation regarding his decision to get a tattoo of his ex-girlfriend Yvonne Nelson’s name while they were still in a relationship.
During an interview on GHOne TV, the singer expressed that their relationship was both beautiful and profound, one that he believed was not only serious but also capable of enduring over time.
Iyanya admitted that he had envisioned a future with Yvonne Nelson, stating, “I believed she was the one… that’s why I got a tattoo of her name on my arm.”
He described their relationship as remarkable, emphasizing the deep connection they shared. Being with her was an addictive experience for him.

However, following their breakup, Iyanya decided to cover up the tattoo.
“I took to Twitter to rant and vent. Tonto Dikeh responded on Twitter, saying people change and so did feelings, so I should move on. I later heard more stories about what Iyanya did with some of his female crew members,” Yvonne wrote.

Nearly a decade later, their relationship came back into the public spotlight when Yvonne Nelson released a memoir. In her book, she accused him of infidelity with Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh. Despite the temptation to share his side of the story, Iyanya recently declined to disclose any details about the actress during an interview. He simply referred to her as a “sweet girl.”
