Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), has been designated as the new Vice-Chancellor of the university. This decision follows the Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) local chapter’s appeal to the search committee for an internal appointment of a qualified candidate.
This appointment marks the second substantive Vice-Chancellor since the enactment of the Technical University Act, Act 2016 (Act 922), which transformed polytechnics in Ghana into technical universities.

Professor Dwomoh is set to hold the position for a four-year term starting from September 1, 2023. Currently serving as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university, he is expected to succeed the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Nana Prof Owusu Achiaw.
The announcement of his selection was made in an official statement from the University’s Relations Office, indicating that the university’s governing council endorsed his appointment during a special meeting.
“Following the 40th (Special) Meeting held on Tuesday, 15th August 2023, the University’s council accepted the Report of the Search Committee for Appointment of Vice-Chancellor for the University; and has appointed Professor Gabriel Dwomoh, Professor of Management, as the Vice Chancellor, for a four-year term,” the statement confirmed.
Professor Gabriel Dwomoh’s Background:
Prof Gabriel Dwomoh holds the distinction of being the first and youngest full professor of the Business School at Kumasi Technical University. He is an alumnus of Opoku Ware School and pursued his education at the University of Cape Coast, where he earned a Bachelor of Secretaryship degree from 1994 to 1999.

He went on to attain a Master of Arts in Industrial Psychology (Human Resource Management) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology between 2001 and 2004. Subsequently, he pursued a Master of Business Administration (Finance) at Lincoln University and obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from the Costa Rica Business School.
Prof Dwomoh commenced his professional journey as a Management Trainee Assistant at AngloGold Ashanti before becoming a lecturer at Sunyani Technical University from 2000 to 2003.
He joined Kumasi Technical University in 2009 as a lecturer in Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship, eventually ascending to the position of Senior Lecturer. During his tenure, he led the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, the Institute of Research Innovation and Development, and the Directorate of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages.

His contributions include securing recognition and approval for the Institute of Research Innovation and Development as a government-awarding center for MMDAs (Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies). Additionally, he played a pivotal role in establishing international partnerships and agreements.
Prof Dwomoh is affiliated with various international organizations, including the International Research Association and the Chartered Institute of Marketing. His research areas encompass Expatriate Management, Industrial Relations, Conflict Management, Performance Management, and Diversity Management.
He is a family man, married with four children.
