It should be noted that the University administration has implemented a ban on events and gatherings since August 2022 due to incidents of violence between different halls during last year’s hall celebrations.
A statement addressed to the students informed them that no events can take place without the explicit approval of the Dean of Student Affairs. The statement also warned that these guidelines would be strictly enforced, and any violations would be met with appropriate penalties. Several reports indicate that students were subjected to beatings with canes and belts, resulting in injuries to some individuals.

The affected students have taken to social media to express their disappointment and frustration with the treatment they received while defending their decision to pay their last respects to James Lutterodt.
James was reported to have passed away on July 3, 2022, initially believed to be due to poisoning. However, his father, Philip Dogbeda Lutterodt, clarified that he actually experienced difficulty breathing.
