Vivo X Fold 2, Vivo X Flip Foldables, and Vivo Pad 2 to Be Released: Details

Vivo’s future foldables have been leaked multiple times in the last few months. Earlier leaks provided crude schematics, while more recent ones exposed some core details followed by photographs of the products themselves. In one case, the Vivo X Fold 2 was also shown in an unboxing video. But, the launch and existence of the brand’s first clamshell foldable, the Vivo X Flip, remained a mystery until now. If you’re looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to be.

Starting with the announcement, Vivo has made it public via its official Weibo account that the future Vivo X Fold 2 and Vivo X Flip would be announced on April 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM in China. The announcement was made via a photo of enormous versions of both devices in a conspicuous area. The business also revealed that the Vivo Pad 2 will be unveiled at the event.

Meanwhile, Digital Chat Station, a tipster, leaked several product pictures of the Vivo X Fold 2 and X Flip. The photographs show the two foldables in detail and provide a rough size estimate. Although the Vivo X Fold 2 features a faux-leather back panel, the Vivo X Flip has a textured shell with an argyle-like embossing design.

Other previously disclosed specifications are also confirmed by the same source. According to the source, the Vivo X Fold 2 will have a 2K AMOLED E6 inner foldable display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Processor. The device is believed to support 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC, the Vivo X Flip is rumored to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It could receive a dual back camera arrangement with a Sony IMX866 50-megapixel sensor as the primary sensor.

The insider also revealed some information on the Vivo Pad 2, which is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Chipset. The tablet is expected to sport a WQXGA LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a metal body, implying that it would be a premium Vivo tablet.

The price tags for each of these devices, as well as if Vivo intends to launch either or both of these foldables globally, remain to be seen at launch. Thus far, the Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+ have been available only in China.
